Lucy Qi, Media Coordinator

Lucy Qi is incredibly honoured to be serving as Ontario DECA’s Media Coordinator for the 2022-2023 year. Lucy is a grade 12 student at Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute and has been involved in her school’s DECA club since grade 10. She has qualified for ICDC in 2 events, Virtual Business Challenge: Hotel and Buying and Merchandising Team Decision Making. DECA has exposed her to a plethora of new opportunities, where she has made long-lasting friendships and was exposed to real-life business scenarios -- allowing her to meet her dream of lifelong learning and family.

Beyond DECA, Lucy served as the president of her school’s student council, fostering a sense of school spirit and community bonding within her school. She has managed a team of over 25 executives, and served as the ex-officio member of all committees and clubs at her school. In addition, she has been the lead organizer in events such as semi-formal, prom, grade 9 orientation, valentine’s rose sales, candy grams, and many more. Outside of school, she is also involved with nonprofit work, as the president of 1UP Toronto and Write-Minded Canada, where she has organized numerous urban planning events and writing competitions respectively. In her free time, Lucy enjoys drawing, playing the piano, karate, and volleyball. In particular, she has been able to turn her hobby into a small business, selling her oil paintings to clients for a few thousand dollars.

Lucy hopes to make year 44 amazing and is excited to network with members across the province! If you have any inquiries or recommendations, Lucy encourages you to reach out to her on Instagram or email her at lucy@deca.ca.
