Mikaeel is a Grade 12 student at The Woodlands Secondary School and is thrilled to assume the role of a Sponsorships Coordinator on Team 48. His DECA journey began in Grade 9, when he won 2nd place in Principles of Finance at ICDC. He has competed in every ICDC since, becoming a finalist in Financial Consulting in Grade 10 and placing 5th in Business Finance in Grade 11. Beyond competing, he has been deeply involved in the success of his chapter. Mikaeel has directed the Principles and Finance categories, and his efforts helped his chapter become the largest delegation attending ICDC in 2026. Mikaeel now looks forward to facilitating that same success for Ontario as a whole, expanding DECA’s reach for students in Ontario by building strong partnerships with sponsors.

Outside of DECA, Mikaeel is involved in several leadership and community initiatives. He serves as the Sponsorships and Finance Lead of FRC Team 4308, where he has secured thousands of dollars in funding to support the team’s operations. This funding was enough to help them win the University of Waterloo event last season. Mikaeel is also proud to serve as Director of Academia for Target Alpha, a financial literacy non-profit. With the help of a co-director, he developed a full curriculum which culminated in a comprehensive textbook for students across the country. Mikaeel has also gained experience in public service, having worked in Councillor Joe Horneck’s office this past year. He produced an orientation document to help new residents navigate their ward, and he will continue that involvement this summer and into the fall as part of the councillor’s re-election campaign.
