Our method for normalizing is this:
- For the scores of each judge, compute the mean and the standard deviation (call them jMean and JStdev)
 - For the conference overall, compute the mean and standard deviation (call them cMean and cStdev)
 - Normalize each student score by computing
 
Normalized = [ (score – jMean) / jStdev ] * cStdev + cMean
using the judge that scores them. This is essentially adjusting the means and standard deviations to match that of the conference overall.
