All written event papers submissions are due Monday, January 10, 2025 to DLG Judge Pro by 5:00 pm.  Papers will be marked virtually.  Presentations will be conducted in-person on February 7, 2025 at the Toronto Sheraton Centre.

IMCE, IMCS, IMCP, FCE, HTPS and PSE are all required to write exams for Provincials!

EVENT BREAKDOWNS

  • 1 – 3 members; unlimited number of entries
  • Can compete in any online event as well as any event offered at Regionals and Provincials
  • These events are NOT run by Ontario DECA and will NOT be competing at Provincials; qualifiers for ICDC are determined by DECA Inc.  Notifications are emailed at the end of each round.

BUSINESS OPERATIONS RESEARCH EVENT

The 2024-2025 topic for each career category is the development of a strategic plan to enhance or introduce the use of AI in an existing business or organization. Participants will collaborate with a local business or organization to analyze current AI strategies and practices. Participants will then develop and present a strategic plan for AI usage.

The Project Management Events require participants to use project management skills to initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control and close a project.  Participants in the Project Management Events will:

  • identify a problem
  • develop a project management plan related to the problem
  • implement the project using project management skills
  • develop a written report and presentation on the project

  • Unlike the US guidelines, a report/research notes/powerpoint presentation slides must be submitted. A SIGNIFICANT amount of research must be provided in order to make it to the next round.  NO standardized guidelines are required so the student can include whatever they feel is relevant to be read by the Judge.

Financial Consulting (FCE)

For 2024-2025, you will assume the role of a financial consultant who works with student-athletes. A potential new client, a college-level athlete who is receiving money from NIL (name, image and likeness) deals has scheduled a meeting with you to learn about how to get started with basic investing. The client would like you to explain different investing options to develop and build a financial portfolio.

For 2024-2025, you will assume the role of a sales representative for a company specializing in sustainable products. The purchasing manager for a local hotel chain has scheduled a meeting with you to learn about sustainable product options that can be integrated into any of their departments.

Professional Selling (PSE)

For 2024-2025, you will assume the role of a sales representative of a customer relationship management (CRM) platform. A local small business owner has scheduled a meeting with you to see the potential benefits of adding a CRM platform to reach current and potential customers. The owner wants to learn how your CRM platform will engage customers to positively influence buyer behaviour, build brand loyalty, and meet the business’s goals.
